Aesthetics and practicality are indispensable in display design

In display design, some designers tend to focus on aesthetics, while others prioritize practicality, which inevitably leads to communication problems between companies and designers.

Xinxin believes that when it comes to exhibition design, companies and designers must first unify their positions, and secondly have a differentiated understanding of functionality and practicality in order to design truly ideal works.

Designers and companies hold different attitudes towards aesthetics and practicality, because companies and designers have different understandings of the efficacy of products from their own perspectives. They each emphasized the importance of aesthetics and usability, creating a contradictory situation between aesthetics and usability. In reality, companies emphasize intuitive real-life effects, while designers emphasize indirect follow-up effects. We advocate for a full consideration of both direct and indirect, as well as practical and subsequent effects in design. Function and practicality have a distinction between overall effectiveness and specific applications.

Enterprises and designers may have a consistent view on the principle of functionality first, but when it comes to practicality, they may confuse the two, most notably by substituting them for each other, thinking that with practicality, functionality is achieved; I think emphasizing functionality first means prioritizing usability. From the design practice of the exhibition hall, the function is considered from its overall effectiveness and function, not only considering the direct and indirect, practical follow-up effects, but also the connotation and extension effects of the design; Practicality is more direct than functionality, and more specifically involves design issues, which are the coordination of the implementation of exhibition hall functions.

Xinxin believes that in display design, the principle of combining aesthetics and practicality should be achieved as much as possible. Of course, each can also be relied upon, as long as the desired effect can be achieved.
